“Thank You, And Keep Showing Up!”
I am so heartened by higher-than-expected voter turnout and a remarkable margin of success for my reelection campaign. Based on my record in my first term, and people’s response to this campaign, I can say with confidence that our community agrees with the progress we’re making on topics like:
Meeting emergency response with those best-equipped for the situation;
Leveraging our collaborations with other local governments, non-profits, the private sector, and the University of Iowa;
Working against systemic racism, with efforts like the Truth and Reconciliation Commission;
Increasing our region’s mobility and connectedness with better transportation options; and
Improving the diversity and supply of housing and the mix and walkability of neighborhoods.
Now it’s time to keep me accountable to these priorities, and continue to engage on what you believe is best for Iowa City.
Congratulations to Andrew Dunn, Josh Moe, and Mazahir Salih. I look forward to getting to know Josh, to continuing to collaborate with Andrew, and to working again with Mazahir.
Thank you to everyone who supported me in the primary election as well as on Tuesday. I would not be on city council without the tremendous support of many volunteers! Deepest gratitude to the dozens of you who showed up in so many different ways to pitch in.
Thank you again to everyone who donated money for mailers and signs! I could still use some funds for that last mailer, so if you’re willing to kick in anything, I deeply appreciate it! (If you donated $100 before October 10, you can still donate up to $100 again, for the second election of this cycle.)
